When everything is quiet....

In the quiet moments, when the house is still and the chaos of the day has subsided, I find solace in the rhythmic motions of baking. It's during these times, especially after particularly difficult or hectic days, that I retreat to the kitchen, seeking a sense of calm amidst the flour and the mixing bowls. I have been on my feet the better part of 14 hours today, yet here I am choosing to be in the kitchen more!
Baking, for me, is more than just a means to an end - the fulfillment of orders or the creation of delectable treats. It's a meditation, a way to quiet the mind and find respite from the demands of the world. The movements, the precise measurements, the gentle kneading of dough - all of it serves to ground me, to bring me back to the present moment.
This is a great reminder and I think proof that I am working towards the right goal, to feed people as a livelihood. It is going to be a long & tiring, quite frankly terrifying journey but I love it so much.
Ladies & gentlemen I give you, Blackberry Cheesecake Bars... well, they will be bars
